Faqs

What Is a Security Gateway?

A Security Gateway (SGW) is a vehicle security system that restricts access to certain diagnostic functions. LAUNCH works with AutoAuth to authenticate supported LAUNCH scan tools, allowing independent technicians to access supported diagnostic procedures such as clearing DTCs, calibrations, relearns, actuations, and adjustments.

What Is AutoAuth?

AutoAuth is an authentication service used to provide authorized access to supported vehicle Security Gateway functions. With AutoAuth, technicians can register their shop or individual account, add supported LAUNCH scan tools, and authenticate when prompted during diagnosis.

Which LAUNCH Tools Support Secure Gateway Access?

LAUNCH Tech USA currently lists CRP 919 MAX, Millennium Master 2.0, Millennium Max, Throttle V, Torque Link, and Turbo III among the scan tools approved for AutoAuth access on its Security Gateway page. Individual product pages also identify Security Gateway Access via AutoAuth as a supported feature on several of these tools.

How Do I Get Started With LAUNCH Security Gateway Access?

To get started, register your shop or technician account with AutoAuth, add your supported LAUNCH scan tool to the shop profile, and log in to AutoAuth on your LAUNCH tablet when prompted during diagnosis. A stable internet connection is recommended to avoid authentication delays or connectivity issues.

What Diagnostic Functions Can I Perform Through Secure Gateway?

Supported Secure Gateway access can enable diagnostic procedures including clearing DTCs, calibrations, relearns, actuations, and adjustments. The exact functions available depend on the vehicle, diagnostic application, and supported tool capabilities.

Do I Need an AutoAuth Account to Use LAUNCH Secure Gateway Access?

Yes. AutoAuth registration is part of the authentication process described by LAUNCH Tech USA. Shop owners can create a shop account and add technicians, while individual technicians can register their own AutoAuth account and provide their username and LAUNCH scan tool serial number to the shop owner.

How Does AutoAuth Work With a LAUNCH Scan Tool?

The basic process is Register → Add Your LAUNCH Scanner → Authenticate. After the supported LAUNCH scan tool is added to the shop profile, the technician enters their AutoAuth credentials on the LAUNCH tablet when prompted during a diagnostic session.
